Re: Missing my IIe monitor cable (0/1)

Ok....

Lesson learned. I posted the pictures here, hopefully you can access
them:

That takes care of the pics, and yeah maybe I was a little confused
when I thought this PL-259 would fix my problem. As you can see in
the pictures (hopefully, they are a little blurry, but still passable)
the RCA cable connects to the computer no problem...Great.
The monitor on the other hand is a different story. I don't know if
you can see it, but the connector LOOKS like an RCA, but the hole is a
little smaller so the male connector cannot fit in. If you look at
that one picture, the cable is as far in as it can go (DSCN0448)

Fantastic, this gives me somewhere to go.
I think I'll try to buy an adapter online or get one of thoe $7
RCA/PL-259 cables off of ebay.

A little late, but here's the pics anyway...

448 is a pic of me trying to jam an RCA cable into the monitor slot
452 is a pic of the back of the monitor (shows the connector visibly)
459 is just a shot of the monitor (front)

Um, I don't get where the pictures are...I'm very interested in "452".

You can't post them here, because this is a text-only forum.

Did you put them up on a web site?

Thanks for all the help, I'll order in a PL-259 and see if that does
the trick (unless someone has another suggestion)

When you replied "that describes my situation exactly" it was
to a post by Bill in which he described a monitor with a *recessed*
RCA connector, not an SO-259, so I don't see how a PL-259 is
going to help you.

An SO-259 socket is about 1/2" in diameter and sticks out about
1/2" and is threaded. In the center of the metal barrel is a
female socket about 1/8" in diameter and about 1/2" deep. All
of the space between the inner cylinder and the outer barrel
is filled with plastic. The end of the outer barrel is castellated.
Does this sound anything like your monitor's connector? (You
certainly can't plug an RCA plug into it. ;-)

Perhaps there is a disconnect here (no pun intended)
The RCA cable fits PERFECTLY into the video connector of the computer.
It's the monitor end that is too small, I took some pictures, I'll up
them tomorrow (just left my cable somewhere)

So I have to ask if the monitor connector is a screw-type coaxial
"F connector"--an RF input?

I have seen a variety of composite video inputs, but virtually all
consumer monitors have RCA inputs. Studio monitors often have BNC
connectors, or even the occasional older SO-239 (large) coax connector.

My money is on the SO-239. In the late seventies, my Dad had a little,
square 9" monitor attached to his Apple ][. I recall seeing a bizarre
set of adapters on the back to bring the Coax connector down to an RCA
female.

I have one of these, but was able to find a single RCA-to-PL-259
adapter.
