Perhaps it was, but the pillock responsible for posting it forgot the
"Distribution: local" (or whatever) header. Or else the AT&T servers
don't honour the "Distribution" header.
As I thought, the original post has the header "Distribution:
internal". Unfortunately, it would seem that the AT&T servers aren't
configured to honour this, hence let the posts escape into the wild.
The loss of the AT&T Usenet service is no great loss anyway, as there
are still plenty of independent Usenet providers (and I'm not talking
about Google Groups either). In any case, it's probably not sensible
to trust your ISP for Usenet access, just as it's not seneible to
trust them for email access, or web hosting, or anything other than
basic connectivity -- use independent providers for everything else,
that way if you need to change ISP you don't have the hassle of
changing everything else as well...
