[Firefox - Adblock + Filterset.G]
To be honest I don't get that many ads so that is why I haven't been that
bothered but I'll try that extension.

For me it's really good because I'm still on dial-up ..and sometimes my
connection isn't fast either. So the complete lack of adverts speeds
up the browsing experience a lot. ...The other thing that I often find
myself doing is a clean install of Firefox (on either my own, or other
peoples machines) and over the years I've just become really sick of
trying to keep bookmarks, blacklists, extensions, pref.js, etc, as I
like them every time. That I can install AdBlock then FilterSet.G, do
two restarts, and be advert+popup free .. that's just gorgeous to me.
(Then I can slowly plug away at adding any other large graphics to the
blacklist that I don't like.) :)

For a wee while I really liked the FoxyTunes (iTunes/WinAmp/etc.
control-strip) extension too. And some weather-report thang. But now
I'm starting to pare it back to a lean, clean install. The Curacao
theme is the only extra indulgence now.

....Okay! Back on topic:

Y'hear that Angus! Stay independent. ;)

Not so sure, there were benefits from being hosted but then again there is
always the danger from not being a master of your own destiny. I have actually
had some new hosting offers from well known people/sites in the Amiga world but
at the moment I have decided to remain where I now am and see how it goes.

Yeah, I can appreciate there can be good benefits to running your own
show. Actually, that reminds me of an awesome piece I read over at
panic.com (the guys who passed on becomming a part of the apple iTunes
machine) called "True Audion Story" ..the decision to go it alone (or
not) isn't usually a simple one.

Good to see you're not short of options for EAGER ..having the option
there is the important thing.

[Worms: The Directors Cut]
Hmmm, Worms has always been a bit of a funny one IMO. It is a good game and all
is well done it never was innovative or novel. Actually whilst grabbing

Yes, that is certainly true. At the core of it there is nothing
special about Worms. It's just an artillery game. But the key thing
Andy did when making worms was to give the characters personality which
really ramps up the emotional stakes when it's played against friends
...and, though it may seem trivial to some, and not in the spirit of
artillery-games to others, the mobility of the worms really adds to the
gameplay possibilities: it isn't a simple case of
trade-shots-till-the-worst-shooter-dies anymore. Hit that guy for a
home run, or send him sliding into the water, or even into *another*
worm who then slides into a mine, ricochets off a wall, them into the
water ... Those chance events and hillarious chain-reactions really
spice it up.

Like a lot of successful products it's not a case of making something
original, it's how to take a good idea and make it great. ..Almost
make ya wonder why you'd want to be an inventor. :)

screenshots for my website I have played a fair few games which, like worms,
were good little blasts for a few hours even though they were just clones of
earlier games. Clone or not there is nothing to beat that "just one more go"
feeling some games give. Mind you those gems of gameplay are by far in the
minority

I have a lot of games on the hard-drive these days. Sometimes I wonder
why, coz I'm usually coming back to the core 5 or so. (Stuff like
ADOM, Slam Tilt, Chaos Engine, Uridium 2, UFO (which should probably
count for 5 games on its own, what with the time is sucks up.)) :D

there is nothing worse than sitting there swapping disks back and
forward (or even just waiting for masses of preloading to occur) only to be
presented with a pile of cack. Those are always a quick grab and reset in my
book. :)

I do wonder at the productions standards of some people back in the
good old days of games. Aminet can be fun to look through sometimes,
but so often I have to stop because my cack-ness threshold has been
exceeded. When you do find that gem of a game that you entirely missed
when it originally came out though.. that's a good day.
