I have not been following all your posts in detail, but it seems to me
you are in dire need of some debugging facilities!
I think I have suggested it before, but if you are developing in BASIC on
RISC OS, you *really* should try !Reporter. It would enable you to log
progress and any values you want (even when you are single tasking) such
that when you return to the desktop you can inspect the information
logged. Invaluable in helping to identify where you were and why before
any crash.
This may be a plug, but I believe it could save you hours!
