Hi again. I've re-read the previous discussion at

as I now have an NIC for my RiscPC. It's EtherLAN600 and is detected
by RISC OS 6 (bought recently at the south west show).
I plan to buy a router (possibly wireless for PC) in order to connect
this PC at the same time as my RiscPC. But before I do that I want to
establish that the cable-modem internet connection is viable on the
RPC by seeing it working. Obviously, VirginMedia aren't interested in
less popular OSs and just talked about 'automatic setup' when I
queried configuration over the phone.
I've looked through the RO6 guide/PRM and have set everything to
'auto' but still don't know how to get it working :-( I have an old
version of !Fresco from when I bought the ANT Internet Suite in around
2000. Other ANT software seems to indicate data is being transferred
to/from the computer, but I don't know if this is correct or not.
Could someone who has successfully connected their RiscPC to the
internet via a VirginMedia cable modem (or similar) offer some advice?
If/when I get this to work, I'll summarise for inclusion in the csa
FAQ (if it's still being maintained).
Cheers, Trevor
As long as the router has been set up using the PC to connect the
first time then you shouldn't have problems connecting with the RPC.
A PC is required the first time you connect via a new device (i.e. the
router) because you will need to 'register' the router's MAC address
with their system.
Grahame.
