It was indeed. The authors of tin seemed fit to add a 'post all postponed
messages' keypress. Occasionally I hit it by mistake and post all my
half-baked writings that I forgot to cancel. Unfortunately when this
happens there's no chance for me to back out, and a few escape before I
manage to kill tin.
Aside from the Unipod problems, the iBurst connection is fine. Its
maximum transfer rate is 1.0 Mb/s (125 KB/s) but, since I live 5 km from
the nearest base-station, the sustained transfer rate here is about
40-50 KB/s. This may compare unfavourably with what is available in
Europe but, for this neck of the woods (Ghana), it's not too bad. My
iBurst connection is about ten times faster than my previous dial-up
connection, and it runs out at about half the cost, based on a monthly
transfer of 120 MB.
Glad it's working. I'm quite impressed you have that kind of technology
available. Are you rural or urban? Are there any signs that 3G mobiles may
be a feasible internet connection to unwired areas anytime soon? (My
experiences in Africa are that the technology for both exists in capital
cities, but whether the rollout and pricing is sensible is another
question).
