Hi,
A long standing issue, but some of you might have the answer.
I set my father up with Omni a couple of years ago, and all would have
been fine as far as his ability to see PCs, except that he upgraded to
RISC OS 4. This brought in long file names, and even though (with
static IPs ) you can see other acorns, you cannot see PCs. I am
suspcious that the long file name namespace has moved and that LanMan98
fails because of this.
Is there any versions of LanMan98 that that this new namespace into
account and will work with RISC OS 4? Or does anyone believe that our
issues are different from that but also have solutions?
Reagrds,
Ian.
You don't say what flavour of MS-Windows your Paw is using, or what
version of LM98?
I have two SARPCs here both networked with a Win XP machine via LM98
(Version 1.22) and both the RO machines can see designated Shared
directories on the XP machine... And from the RO machines, transfer stuff
To and From.
However, within the LAN I also have a Laptop running under Windows Vista,
and that is an entirely different beast, communications between RO and
Vista via LM97 is at best dodgy.
It will do RO to Vista, but not Vista to RO.

PS: I'm using RO Select on both RO machines, 4.39 on one and 6.06 on this
one.
