Don't forget I've got Select 4.39. Under Network configuration one item
is 'Hosts'. If I click on it a small window opens, with the title
'Hosts database' showing '192.168.1.1 : loopback' which I have now
been told should be: '127.0.0.1 : loopback'. I have now changed it.
You suggest there should be a line with the address 192.168.1.1 called
ADSL_Router, so I've added this, and 192.168.1.2. called Babylon.
Another item in the Network configuration window is 'Resolver'. This
opens a window called 'Resolver and host name' in which I have given
the Host name as 'Babylon' and Primary Name Server as '192.168.1.1'.
The top five items in this window (Host name down to Tertiary name
server) are the same as shown in your web page, but the only other item
is 'Act as DNS name server' (which is not ticked). There is no 'Hosts
file' button.
OK. If you go to the "Interfaces" section of the Network configuration
window, and click on Configure... next to the Unipod's entry, what is in
the resulting dialogue?
To get it working, you should probably try "Obtain IP address Manually",
and then enter 192.168.0.1 into "IP Address" and 255.255.255.0 into
"Netmask". If your current settings are different, you will probably need
to save these new ones, then reboot, then try Firefox on 192.168.0.1
again.
