Does the unipod network connection have any lights lit up?
There are no lights on the Unipod (I think!) it's out of sight in one of
the RiscPC podule slots anyway.
The modem has five lights, left to right: Power, Link & ACT (these are
labelled ADSL) then LAN and USB.
Unplugging the cable puts out the LAN light. The USB light is not on,
the ACT light occasionally flashes but is off most of the time.
Is there a switch/hub between the modem and your machine or are they
directly connected?
They are directly connected. The modem's address is definitely
192.168.1.1 as this is stated in the instructions (for Windows/Mac
only!)
My Configuration settings are:
AUN - off
Hosts - now shows 192.168.1.1 :loopback
Interfaces - Serial PPP off
Slot 1 UniPod 100baseT is ticked
Autoconfigure - None
IP address - 192.168.1.2 (I'm told this must be in same
range as the modem)
Netmask - 255.255.255.0
Obtain IP address - Manually is ticked
NetFS - off (No other machines are in the network)
Resolver and host name - Host name: babylon
Local domain: .nom (Paul Vigay's suggestion)
Primary name server: 192.168.1.1
Secondary name server: (blank)
Tertiary name server: (blank)
Act as DNS name server: not ticked
Routing - Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Act as an IP router: ticked
ShareFS - off
If you open a taskwindow, and enter "ifconfig -a" without the quotes,
what is reported?
It gives:
1o0: flags = 8849<UP LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
ex0: flags = 88b0<POINTOPOINT,NOTRAILERS,NOARP,MULTICAST> mtu 104
which means nothing to me I'm afraid. :-(
Hoping it means something to you; thanks for your help.
