Thanks for the replies. I knew it was some kind of Acorn default behaviour
but didn't realise where it was coming from. Given the hints here, I
realised that I had the following set:

Configure, Network, Interfaces, "Auto-configure" = AUN.

Setting that to None, resolved the problem.

I thought it was a small chance, given that I'm trying to route to the 192
address, but I can now try again without it being in the equasion.
