In the process I discovered that my Win2000 PC can ping the router,
itself, the new device but not the RPC.

The RPC & Win2000 PC happily share files with Samba & LanMan98 so
there's connection.

So why is it of all the networked devices I have, it's only the RPC that
won't respond?

You've not got Select and the Firewall set up have you?

I do have Adjust installed but haven't setup the firewall. As far as I can tell the only entries in the firewall script are those examples given by default and they're all commented out.
