AOL returning emails

A reply to a genuine email AOL address has just been returned to me:

*****@aol.com
SMTP error from remote mailer after initial connection:
host mailin-04.mx.aol.com [205.188.159.217]: 554- (RTR:BB) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/554rtrbb.html
554- AOL does not accept e-mail transactions from dynamic or residential
554- IP addresses.

What on Earth is this all about? Surely not because I'm using an ADSL
router - I'm not doing anything else the least bit unusual...
