I have been connecting to the internet with Orphius via the provided
Soulwise router with no problem for over a year. I have a PC connected
through the router as well. My problem is that the Iyonix running
RISCOS 5.13 has recently started to drop the connection. I have
changed patch cables and checked settings, but this has not helped.
The PC has had no such problem and the only thing I can think of is
the network card on the Iyonix is dying. It works occasionally, but
generally doesn't. Does anyone know if this is a common problem?
Yes, there has been much discussion on this on the Iyonix list. Are
you not subscribed to that? Typically, it is a symptom of PSU
problems. The networking chip is most sensitive to the voltage
supplied by the PSU, so it is the first to fail when the voltage drops
below the spec. For many users, replacing the PSU has helped.
The network card is onboard so does anyone know if i can pop a PCI
card in to replace it? I'd guess it would need to be a specific
make/chipset and driver issues...
Yes, that is possible, too, and that has been discussed on the list as
well. You will probably be able to find the threads using the list
archive function: http://www.freelists.org/list/iyonix-support
