iiyama monitor

I've an elderly - but adequate - iiyama vision master 17 monitor which I
use with my Risc PC. The monitor and the Risc PC stand on separate
shelves.
Trying to liberate shelf/workstation space in my crowded office - which it
and I share with a WinXP box and a couple of printers - I'm wondering
about standing the monitor on top of the Risc PC. The welcome guide says
you CAN put a monitor of up to 16 kilogrammes on top of the Risc PC. I
haven't weighed the iiyama but it is pretty heavy. Does anyone have any
relevant views or experience?
Alternatively I have room to put the Risc PC on the floor as a tower - but
the Welcome guide seems to imply that as a single layer machine I
shouldn't - and that the CD drive wouldn't work if I did - and that even
then I'd need special feet. Again, does anyone have any relevant views or
experience, please?
