Matrox Graphics have an ugly hack that would enable you to do this to
some extent: it's a box you plug into your VGA port that emulates a
monitor with a very wide resolution. This box in turn has two VGA
outputs, and it splits the signal between them, thus allowing dual-head
with no hardware or OS support from the computer.
I haven't heard of anybody even trying to use one of these with a RiscPC,
and they're quite expensive.
