Since this sometimes happens to me - and news download speeds vary -
with Pipex I can only conclude it's down to load on the server. I
recently paid for an upgrade in download speed in general and this
seems to have speeded up news too.
I'm a Pipex user too, but I've never noticed any real lag when Newshound
is running, though I admit I'm still running V1.42. The only time I've
ever had that sort of thing happen was back when I was with Orange on
dial-up when they killed off their own news service and I briefly flirted
with news.aioe which tended to freeze on occasion, though that may have
been more to do with the load on the server end of the equation.
I'm still on V1.42 too - didn't realise there was a later one. When I was
on the 518kb? speed it would sometimes hang for a while - but eventually
get going. But can't say I've noticed it recently.
