Iyonix file copying problem

I have an external drive (120 gig) in a caddy in my Iyonix.
I am moving about 20 gigs of stuff over from the main drive. At arbitrary
intervals, an error box comes up saying "This file is already open"
(doesn't specify which). Sometimes the error message is different: "This
file is locked to stop changes being made to it".
I click on "Skip" and another error opens saying that a particular file is
"not found".
Anyway, of course, each time I go away and leave the computer to it, I
come back and it's stopped. So this transfer is going to take many many
hours because I can't just sit there waiting for the next error message.
I don't recall this problem when using a RiscPC - is this a recognised
Iyonix problem? Is there some simple fix, like ADFSbuffers=0 or summat
like that?
The next file copying is my web site, which is huge, and I really need it
to be copied overnight, but that seems unlikely at this rate.
Can anyone suggest a fix? Or another method of copying / moving?
