Well, tried that. rebooted, still there !!!
Well it works here with no problem at all on 4 different PC/laptops.

This behaviour (displaying the "no connection" symbol even when askedYep, thats setup as well, and it still keeps reappearing.
not to) is apparently an issue with Windows XP SP2. (See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902974 for details)
The suggested work around is to enable the "hide inactive icons"
feature, and tell it to always hide that icon.
