I've just managed to build it. Tom's style of code is... unpleasant,
which such horrors as header files containing variable definitions, and
conflicting types. What's currently at HEAD will never build under
Linux as it is. I can only assume Tom's development environment doesn't
correctly detect build dependances, as to successfully build it you must
modify files mid-build, in addition to creating whole new files for
which it is essential that they exist for it to even configure and yet
they don't, compiling some files manually, linking manually, and
removing a call to a Windows-specific function in rpc-linux.c.
It's in the process of having a dynamic recompilation engine added, so I'm
not surprised the build is a bit flaky at the moment. Having said that, the
HEAD version I grabbed yesterday morning did compile, when I sorted out a
few things that were broken (mostly functions that are in the dynarec stuff
but not in the arm.c emulator).
It's a shame there's no 'pre-dynarec' branch. To do the IDE patch I was
using rev 55, which was before the changes. Probably rev 57 might be a
better one to try as that's had a few more patches. The lack of entergui()
is something I set a patch to Tom (I think!) for rev 55, but it doesn't seem
to have appeared.
However the autoconf stuff is quite flaky - in particular I have aclocal and
automake 1.4, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 and it's not clear which version is
intended. They all behave slightly differently. At least configure.ac says
to use autoconf 2.50. And, yes, you need to create empty install-sh and
mkinstalldirs.
I'll see if I can submit a patch when I have some more time.
After all that... it doesn't work, exploding with an error about "Bad
mouse command ED."
Hmm... not seen that one before.
Oh well. Perhaps I'll try it again when some more work has been done on
it. I'd offer to help, but the source is so turgid and unreadable, I
get a headache.
There's always QEMU :)
(whose source isn't a paragon either, but it has a lot more potential)
