I'm not sure what the problem was, probably not to do with SA as
the most recent files inside !Poster date from 1993.
Poster was most definitely StrongARM compatible, as I still use it
occasionally on my Risc PC.
I had a copy. It ceased working from my point of view when I started
using the SA. Switching back to the original processor cured the
problem.
You are quite right in that there was a problem, as we found at school.
The problem was solved by upgrading to Poster 1.66. However since all
the files inside are dated 1993 it can't have been that the changes form
previous versions were done to cope with SA, unless 4Mation took the
strange decision to set the date back some 5 yeasr or so.
Perhaps like a number of programs it just needed the cache to be turned
off whilst the program was loaded. I remember altering several programs
before SA versions were available with this problem by including a *cache
off in the run file and then manually doing a *cache on when it had
loaded. Later M.A.Simpson produced a module called SlowFor which allowed
you to turn off the cache for however many seconds you put after the
*slowfor command. I think the only program I've still got like that is
!AppleFS where I added the lines:
¦The next 2 lines load SlowFor module and turns off cache for 6 seconds
RMEnsure SlowFor RMLoad <System$Dir>.Modules.SlowFor
SlowFor 6
before the lines:
Run <AppleFSRes$Dir>.!Intro
Run <AppleFS$Dir>.!RunImage
at the end of the !run file.
