It now looks like you have both computers correctly set up - the likely reason for being unable to ping the PC from the Iyonix is probably down to a software firewall on the PC (Windows XP firewall or one you have installed) not allowing response to ICMP pings.

There should be a way of setting up the firewall to allow pings on the LAN - if it is the Windows firewall you are using, go in to the firewall settings, click on the Advanced tab and make sure Local Area Connection is ticked, then click on the Settings button to the right. Click on the ICMP tab, and tick the box for "Allow incoming echo request". OK all the way back out and try pinging the PC from the Iyonix -if you have no other firewall active then you should get replies.

If you are using a software firewall on the PC let us know which one it is - someone will probably know how to set it up...

Sorry but I had gone to bed by the time your mail came through.
In fact I am using NTL Netguard. I cannot see asetting in that of the type you describe.
