Remember that PlayIt doesn't cope with all formats of WAV files, IIRC
it won't play a WAV file that contains MP3 data nor will it play back
ADPCM WAVs.
Surely there shouldn't be MP3 data in Wave files, or any other data
compression for that matter? There are different formats (different
resolutions, sampling rates, number of tracks) and Broadcast Wave
which as three numeric header fields. !SoundCon usually manages to
convert files to something that can be played.
The WAV format is just a wrapper for a number of different codecs, so it is
possible for them to contain MP3 data, or a number of other compression types
which aren't supported by RISC OS, as well as the more normal PCM and ADPCM
coded samples.
