Yeah, when touch typing quickly, I very occasionally find I've started on the
wrong base keys (usually on a keyboard I'm not used to) and have typed
several words before realising - not because I don't watch the screen, but
more that the "muscle memory" can take time to stop when typing quickly.
It's really quite strange when you get in to touch typing, you don't actually
think about how to spell words and how you are going to type each letter out,
but you're thinking several words ahead (if not copy typing) and don't have
time to think how to spell words because you think the word and the fingers
spell it out for you - it's weird sometimes.
Another thing that I just ocassionally do is manage to get the timing of
keypresses slightly out and you get "all the write letters but not
necessarilly in the right order!"
I learned to type the old fashioned way with "A S D F J K L ;" repetative
excercises and was taught by a real typing teacher but on an old DOS machine
with Wordstar, then migrated to WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS.
