Thanks Theo for all the info, I will see what the customer is willing to
try. Though I can't see anything here that explains why the monitor &
adaptor worked fine here on our A420 with RISC OS 3 but not on the
customers A410 RISC OS 2 unit.
Does your A420 have a VIDC enhancer?
Ours doesn't and the customer doesn't think his does, if he did MODE 0 still
should work anyway I'd have thought. The picture isn't stable even before
the hard disc is accessed i.e. it can't be his module setting a non
compatible mode.
They sometimes provide facilities to
control the syncs and provide settable sync polarity.
Otherwise it might either be because the jumpers are set differently on the
customer's machine, or one or other of them has had some board mods (eg the
cutting pin 3 of IC9 that I mentioned). If you could find out what sort of
sync the Taxans were expecting it might help (can't find a manual on the
web).
I can't remember any monitor requiring internal link changes.
I think I have a 770 or 775 somewhere here, I will check it.
Fix do not have LK2 made
After fitting RISC OS 2 to our 410 we still didn't get the problem, however
we found that if LK2 was made (It connects V Sync to pin 5 of the 9pin
monitor socket) we got the same as the customer i.e. scrolling with an AKF52
but o.k. on a 770
Low and behold the customer did have LK2 made. All the 440 & 4x0/1 we have
here did not have it made. The customer says it came from Watford
Electronics like that!
