How interesting! When I had an Atom (self-built) in the late
70's I expanded the on board RAM to the maximum by adding one of
the System 3 cards with 8k static RAM in a 19" eurocard frame,
but found there was a 1k gap in the memory map. There was
however an unused output on the memory latch chip which I used
to operate a little home made board piggybacked inside the Atom
holding a single 1k chip. I've forgotton what wonders I wrought
with this massive stretch of memory but I learnt a lot.
The card frame also held a dual A->D converter card designed and
made by me on a Verocard which eventually operated an on-screen
pointer from a model aero joystick; and one or two other cards
as well. What simple and happy days when I could actually see
the components I was soldering :-)
If anyone is clearing the attic/spare room/garage, or
whatever, and has: ...
I'm sorry; my stuff was given away long ago. Some of it went to
the Wakefield charity stalls so perhaps you have some of it
already.
Brian.
