Re: Digital Cameras and the Iyonix

I have an Aria, and it has no memory card slots. If you're talking
about what I think you are, those are USB sockets, not memory card
slots.

No, the big horizontal slits above those - I've got a mouse and keyboard
plugged into the USB sockets in the front.

The machine came with a memory card reader, which can be
plugged in to one of those sockets.

I'm pretty sure this one didn't... maybe it was an optional extra, like
the DVD writer?

If/when you buy a digital camera, it will probably come with a USB
cable and using that cable, you can connect the camera to the Iyonix,
again using one of those sockets - though whether it will work
remains to be seen. (If the camera will only work with the supplied
software to transfer its pictures, it certainly won't - but if it has
the option to be seen by the computer as a mass storage device, then
it might).

Well, I hope it works better than the USB pen that he rashly bought, and
which turned out to have some sort of special partition on it that
stopped it from working on the Iyonix at all. :-(

I was told the only solution was to find a Windows PC and reformat the
pen with some Windows software, but since he doesn't want to lose the
single large file he's saved onto it from one of the school PCs....

The best thing to do is weigh up your (brother's) camera options,
whittle it down to a short-list and re-visit this thread. Hopefully,
someone will be able to say yay or nay for each camera you've listed.

I hope so.

But what we need to know is, do people want nasally-insertable computers?
