Also ADFS buffers has to be
set to zero to avoid disc corruption with large drives (above 2GB?).
ROMPatch version 2.04 (beta) has a fix for an ADFSBuffers problem,
although the fix is "not yet audited" according to the !ReadMe:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) 3.60,3.70: With ADFSBuffers non-zero and a disc of more than 2Gb,
machine
may hang.
9) 3.70,3.71: C runtime sees uncaught trap if a SWI, called through
_swi
or _swix, aborts.
Problems 1 to 7 inclusive are fixed as for ROMPatch 2.02, problems 8
and 9
are new fixes, NOT YET AUDITED - see above warning.

I have ROMPatch 2.04 installed on my RISC OS 3.70 Risc PC with 6GB
hard disc and am have ADFSBuffers set to 255. I have not had any
problems with this so far but I might be living dangerously... has
anyone else tried a similar setup and if so did it work?
RISC OS 4 has fixed code, (presumably 3.8 too). If there's any way of
checking if the code needed to be further revised (unless it needed to
be for the new format) that might give a clue.
Re the patch, whilst it I don't think it was every released without the 'NOT
YET AUDITED' label, thousands of users used/use it without any problems
being reported.
The other work around of *con. ADFSBuffers 0 is more dangerous to use as
that will be lost by a power on delete and by the time you come to do one
you will most likely have forgotten that you need to to set
*con. ADFSBuffers 0 !
