Good article. There's one thing that puzzles me: I'm told you have to
use a CPC mouse or an adapter for a PS2 mouse. However the Adjust boot
configuration allows me to select from five different mouse types
including two PS2 and two serial mice. So can I just plug in a PS2
mouse and set the configuration accordingly? Or a serial one for that
matter (except that I need the serial port for a Meteor).
Assuming it's a Risc PC, you only have one PS/2 port. I've tried
plugging in the mouse there, and annoyingly it doesn't work. (After
setting the mouse type to be PS/2... of course you can't type unless
you have a USB keyboard).
Can't you have two devices on the same port? I don't know what
interface the Mac uses but you can plug the mouse into the keyboard or
into a spare socket on the monitor base.
You can however just plug in a serial mouse and set the configuration,
and it should work (as far as serial mice can ever be said to
'work'... it makes the desktop feel like Windows 3.1)...
Thanks. In that case I'll probably use a microswitch off the serial
mouse to repair my Acorn one.
