Oooh NOOO a Mac at least.
So, I would be interested to know if a standard wireless router
connected to my Iyonix can be used as the hub of a wirelesss network
that would serve both mine and my mother's house?
If you are lucky, it depends on the thickness of the walls, quality
and position of the wireless access point. Also the quality of the
network adaptor in the computer is important.
Also, I have been told that there is encryption software on most
modern wireless routers, so that only authorised machnes can gain
access to it; is this software accessable via RISC OS?
Firefox on an Iyonix should work for most routers. It is used to set
up the router. You can usually set a wep key and also only permit
known mac addresses.
Finally, if the answer to both of the above is yes, which router would
be the best for me to buy?
I use a draytek vigor 2600VG (think there is now a newer version.)
Very good reliable, simple excellent facilities, you can even filter
out active x components, so you won't have to keep fixing it so often
if she does get a PC and is foolhardy enough to use internet explorer.
