I had the reader as master and the writer as slave on the IDE bus. Just
re-jigged them as writer as master and put them on the Unipod with
apparently success - they're both working fine and recognised by CDBurn.
Thanks to everyone for their help. I can't say I've read anywhere in the
help files or instructions about this configuration mattering.
