I can't recall that being so for any version of Ovation Pro and I speak as
someone who had one of the *very* early copies.
OvPro did (does) embed the user name and address into the executable.
Ovation (not Pro) however used an install token system where to re-enable
the install disc you had to un-install the software from the hard disc.
This minor inconvenience was solved by modifying the appropriate byte in
the installer to have it think that the floppy based installer was valid
for 99 (or was it 999) installs. I only ever installed one copy but I
didn't like the blind alley option of possibly needing to de-install from a
dead disc to re-enable the installer.

A couple of versions actually, one used the date stamp on the ccshared
directory and the other used the dummy sprite file in !system (also date
related IIRC)
