Note I've dropped the pling off the archive name.

Hurrah.

I've removed the AVI bit in case it misleads, replacing it with AV,
though I could replace that with 'media' if anyone (either of the two
who seem to be interested) has strong views.

Good idea. AFAIK .AVI is a specific windows file type. Media includes
newspapers; I'm sure it doesn't convert those. AV is good. ;-)

I've also specified the file drop area so that I can have a second one
to change the destination path for the converted file.

Good idea.

After setting the infile, one can drag a file or a directory icon from
a filer window to set the destination of the outfile - the path changes
but not the leafname.

I've also trapped a couple of error conditions.

Otherwise, the functionality is unaltered. I haven't yet altered the
Help file.

I'd like to know what types of file can be converted and the parameter
strings used - I'm having no success myself with anything other than
MOV and WMV files, but this may just be that I'm using duff files I've
downloaded or have no idea what parameters to use.

..ASF files converted successfully albeit with lots of bad header reports
and had to re-type them fb2

If I had this info I might be able to add some sort of dropdown menuing.

It would be nice if any filetype could be accepted and changed if a
successful conversion happens. I find that RISC OS transfers .ASF and
..3gp files across as 'text'.

Further sources of reliable files to test might also be useful. Reply
e-mail works for RISC OS users.

Two ASF and two 3gp files: www.timil.com/temp

When I have used !FFmpeg (the front-end) once, I have to quit and re-load
in order to convert another file, dropping a file on a 'used' copy of the
program seems to do nothing, bar direct the output.

And finally: perhaps you should include the line
Set File$Type_fb2 Video
in the !Boot file.
