Further to this I have now (twice) downloaded Release 4. When I open
the Archive I get 3 Dirs. In the Apps I get Network, then !Firefox.
When I double-click this, nothing seems to happen, except that my
machine freezes requiring a closedown. I have tried this several
times with consistent results. I am obviously doing something very
silly but have not a clue what.

Don't run it from within the archive. Copy the !Firefox application out
first, then run it from your hard disc. Running apps from within
archives, particularly memory-hungry ones, isn't very reliable at the best
of times.

From your headers, you seem to be using RISC OS 4.02, on which I think
this release won't run!

Indeed I am, as I mentioned in a previous post. So that's the problem.

Not if it's on a RisCube, it isn't. Firefox 2 doesn't work on 4.02 when
running on a RiscPC, but Peter N has said that it should be OK on a
virtual system like yours.

Yes, that's what I thought the position was. I've just tried again,
putting the Zip on to the HD before opening, then transferring the
!Firefox also to the HD separately. At least, for the first time, it
did not freeze the machine. I got the message "UnixLib detected
recursion of signal SIGSEGU(or V). Exiting."
