Something odd here, surely?
No, perfectly normal. Unplugged modules are remembered by
number and the module numbers may differ between ROM
releases. That is precisely one of the reasons why you need
to do a Delete power on when switching ROMs. ...
I did not make myself clear. What was odd was that /all
subsequent modules/ after the unplugged modules were /Dormant/.
... Hmm. Is that not a flaw in the whole system that means
that soft-loading a ROM image cannot really work reliably
because there is only one CMOS configuration but two ROMs are
involved in booting?
Exactly so :-(( I have reverted to RISC OS 4.39 by renaming
!Boot and Boot25439 to swap them, rather than by selecting
'No Softload' in Config. It is still necessary to mess
about with any unplugged modules but the other CMOS settings
remain OK, with NO delete power-on.
