SparkFS and RO6 (was Re: Filer_Open Dir)

I have amended the subject to better reflect your query.

Dave Symes <dfs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:

On RO 4.39 when I double clicked an archive (Zip), SparkFS would be run to
the icon bar and the archive would open.

Since installing RO 6 this doesn't happen and I get an error message:

"File 'SparkFSFiler_OpenDir' not found"

It sounds as though the SparkFS module, which provides this command,
is not running.
There is an entry in the Boot configuration, Boot at startup tool that
correctly contains the file path to SparkFS, and obviously if I manually
run SparkFS then quit it and then double click an archive it all works
okay.

Looking at !SparkFS.!Run, I see that it calls
<SparkFS$Dir>.Resources.IfExists (to check for the existence of a
MimeMap file) which is a transient utility which RISC OS 6 is
presumably choking on. It probably says something in the log file to
which you referred in a different post. The !Run file will have
already set up the 'SparkFSFiler_OpenDir' Run actions for the archive
types SparkFS handles but was not expecting to terminate early at the
point of calling a utility.

Please, What has changed and what can I do to correct this.

It's a feature of RISC OS 6. It is probably worth mentioning to David
Pilling that other people may come across the same problem. Someone
elsewhere mentioned the WrapAIF program
<URL:http://www4.webng.com/resurgam/> which may add a new header to
IfExists.

Every time I think I know where it's at, they move it.
