<snip of one person's thoughts on Netsurf, not shared by many others,

If I were embittered, I'd be attacking others; I'm not; I 'm
spending my time defending myself against others, such as yourself,
who seem intent on attacking me for everything I do and say. I said
that I had bought a Mac on the strength of reading about VRPC
having been seen running on a Mac. You called me a liar.
In the first instance I still do not believe that this was your sole
reason for buying a Mac. If I were to say that I had bought a PC
because VARPC would run on it, that would be obvious rubbish: I would
shell out the dosh because I thought it would do something that I
could not do currently - and that is much more likely to have been
foremost in your mind when you bought that Mac.
What I certainly said was that if this was your sole reason for
buying a Mac, then it showed poor judgement.
What you also said was that you had read this account of VARPC for
Mac on some newsgroups. I could not find this on any comp.sys.acorn
newgroups, nor has anyone else including you, though I do remember
your saying you could not be bothered. But it has been found on Drobe
which had published a false article on the subject; it may not have
been deliberately false but journalists can so easily get
over-enthusiastic and talk rubbish. If you are now saying that of
course you remember reading it on Drobe, then you have evidence,
which I have carefully typed out for you, that you were not lying, so
I will withdraw that. But the fact remains that you chose, or say you
chose, to believe this journalist who had got it wrong.
That sounds like the response of a very embittered person to me.
That is false. Again! So I am accusing you of getting things wrong.
Again! Your poor judgement, again.
You do not know how to establish that someone is bitter. Try
analysing the Grumpy People who have been known to utter bitter
thoughts here. A bitter person is usually of the opinion that the
world is against them and resents this. I do not think the world is
against me, on the contrary - and I have little or no resentment. So
I am not embittered. (QED)
For someone who is so "not embittered", you seem to put an inordinate
amount of time and effort into attacking me on several fronts and in
several threads - all with false arguments, I might add.
It is not adequate merely to say that someone's arguments are false, you
have to give reasons why. (Though journalist, that sad 'profession',
now use 'refute' with the meaning of merely 'deny' and without giving
reasons. But then we know about journalists, don't we?)
That you have nothing better to do on a Bank Holiday weekend is very
sad indeed; you must be a really sad, embittered person, and I feel
quite sorry for you.
But there is nothing different to a retired person in a bank holiday
weekend, if anything it is more reason to stay at home and save travels
for less busy days.
So there is nothing sad or embittered about my being here. Once again
your judgement is faulty by jumping to conclusions without first of all
obtaining all the facts.
And if being at home is sufficient reason for being sad and embittered,
does this not also apply to you? Can we not now say, that on your
reasoning, you are a sad and embittered person?
I am still prepared to give this all a rest if you are. Meanwhile I do
not want you to be able to walk away and say that noone had refuted your
statements, so they must be correct. Your statements contain a load of
falsenesses and they have been refuted. (More QED.)
I look forward to your agreement to give all this a rest.
