RISC OS 6 Install problem.

I have posted my problem to the Select mailing list, but as of this time,
no answer... So I'll see if anyone here has any useful insights.

My machine SARPC RO Select 4.39 and Viewfinder.

Having just spent a couple of hours backing up, then disabling a number of
items from Boot, I find that I have two major problems.

1) Just holding down V while rebooting, does indeed switch out the VF but
the mode that is eventually used is quite useless as it displays
everything enormous on screen, so no mode configs can be changed to
something more suitable.
CLI Wimpmode 28 or 32 don't work either.

I got around this by setting a generic Acorn monitor at 800 x600 C256 and
this does indeed present after a V reboot in that mode...

2) The Cd in the drive when clicked upon whirrs and the hourglass ticks
over, but the machine then freezes with the hourglass ticking... The CD
filer window never displays because the machine has frozen and requires a
round the back button reboot.

Machine set back to boot into Viewfinder display.
Now the CD in drive will start up and display a filer window, without
freezing, and if I double click the "!RO6Install" the process starts okay.

Obviously I then abort it as I'm now still in a VF mode.

I've tried this process a number of times and Sans VF the CD will not
display and freezes the machine, VF active CD okay.

So for the time being (Dr Who) I've aborted the whole thing until I get
some answers.

What's happening, and how do I get it sorted?
