[about CFSI]

So it doesn't have an undo. only a reload and re-process.

I'm not so sure that is correct. Have a go loading an image, setting
scaling to 1/4 and processing.

You've got it in the wrong order. CFSI takes an image from disc and
processes it according to the scaling, processing, and output options
previously set.

You get a 1/4 scaled version of the original image (which you can then
save out, if you want).

Next set scaling to 1/1 and
reprocess. Seem to end up with the original picture, not an enlarged
version of the 1/4 scale one.

That is because you are reprocessing the original image again.

Try it again with the Processing -> Pre-sharpening option set.
Reprocess. A subtle (!) change occurs. Then set that option off and
reprocess. Once again we seem to be back with the original.

Because each time, CFSI is loading the original image to process it.

So reloading is not required, it seems. Reprocessing is a sort of
manually determined Undo.

No.
