Re: Practical Photo Management/Printing

Hi All,

I have finally got round to scanning in some slides I've taken and
would like to "manage" the pictures. Specifically I'd like to:
- view them
- crop/rotate/scale them
- print them on various sizes of photo paper

Does anyone know of a simple app which does that - I don't imagine I'm
going to need the sophistication of PhotoDesk/Variation etc.

Imagemaster, now known as DPlngScan, from:

http://pilling.users.netlink.co.uk/riscos.html

though either I am blind or I cannot see and it must be there somewhere
but I can't find it. E-mail David Pilling - his addy is on the site.

Specifically, how do people line up the photos to match with the paper
sizes precisely?

Alter the dots per inch until the photo matches the printable area.
Very easy with DPlngScan.

On printing, I've got an HP5550c. I would happily buy GIMP-Print, but
unfortunately this printer is not supported. I have VRPC, but am not
prepared to pay £50 for UniPrint. I presumably could use
GhostScript+PrintPDF to generate a PDF and then print this on the
Windows side, but do you lose quality that way?

As long as you can get the dots per inch to 600, the quality should be
OK.
