What about online banking, shopping, accessing timetables on sites
like www.arriva.co.uk , which will /only/ work with Firefox of the
browsers I've tried. What if 'going elsewhere' isn't an option? I
suspect you'll say in that case you fire up FF or whatever on a
Mac/PC/delete as appropriate, but that's my point; every time a RO
user has to do that, RO becomes ever so slightly less relevant to
their daily computing.

Sure you can go elsewhere. Perhaps not to another website, but to another
business.

This is very simplistic. If I were to buy an expensive camera (for
instance), I very much doubt my decision would be ruled by the quality of
the Cannon vs. Nikon web sites. I'd be mainly interested in the price,
product quality, specifications, old lenses in my cupboard, etc.

I agree. But fortunately, the quality of the manufacturer's website has
little to do with your purchase decision: the quality (or rather more
accurately, the accessibility) of the dealer's website does.

The dealer's website which gives you a big discount verses the one you can
access with RISC OS?

Nevertheless, once I'd bought the camera it would be nice to be able to
download the manual (or whatever) from the relevant website.

One assumes if you bought a camera it'd come with a manual.

Choosing a camera was purely an example - my point could apply with /any/
product. (Um, for instance, a bank account.)

Saying "oh, well, you should have bought the rubbish camera which didn't
do what you want and cost a fortune" is hardly very helpful :-(

And has little relevance to this thread.

Well, I was paraphrasing you, so... ;-)
