I'm sure it could all be done in RiscOS, but how much more difficult would
it be,
Easier?
Could you please outline the process and programmes used.
Especially, which program would do the batch processing of the images?
I can only imagine it must be Variations. I had another shifty at the
Photodesk manual, and can't see it there.
Based on Paul's timing experiments on the Iyonix, it would certainly
take much longer.
Howabout the need to JClean jpegs out of the digicam: adding an extra
step?
After I posted, I just realised another great thing: metadata will
transfer over when the images are converted, so that if I decide to do
a slideshow based on e.g. related Galapagos species in order, another
time it will be more than easy for me to sort the slides into those
taken on the different islands right inside Photoshop.

including a laptop for showing.
Identical with a VA laptop.

(I'm slightly confused about the availaility of the A9: I thought it wasn't
available yet, but I see some people posting here who are using it.
Available in beta form for developers and experienced users.
OK.

In any case, doesn't it need a separate monitor?
You could use a 7" tele/monitor (say).
That would be *much* too small.
My laptop monitor is 15.4"

Or if the place you were going had a monitor you could just put the A9
in your pocket.
It *might* connect into the back of their TV screens.
Though part of the problem is that he's currently finding it hard to
view their TV: the beauty of the laptop is that I can move it to an
optimal position.
It's irrelevant anyway, given it's not currently available on general
release.
