Re: "Device not ready" (CDBurn)

OK -
I see my post finally went 'up', some of the posts addressing some of
the points I made, but I wrote it first just after lunchtime
yesterday, and now (21.03) the news server isn't working *again*!

However, I *may* have worked out the problem:
According to !CDBurn's 'configure' option, my CDWriter is a Lite-on
LTR-16102B, which isn't listed on Steffan's site. There are four
Lite-on drivers, but not for this specific model.

However, in my defence, I bought the Writer and the software, and had
them fitted, all at the same time, so would reasonably have expected
them to be 'fit for the purpose'.

Also since posting last, I discovered that a BenQ CD written by my pc
desktop and readable by my laptop shows just a blank window on this
machine, so the brand of CD may be a problem.

However, putting a Blank BenQ CD into the drive and pressing CDToolbox
-> Medium Information shows the CDWriter state as 'ready', the Medium
State as 'Writable', with a Free capacity of 702Mb.

'Next writable block' shows as '0': is that OK???

Trying to burn the ISO image immediately following a Re-boot resulted
again in alternating messages: 'CD writer not ready' and 'A buffer
overrun has occurred', which again setting the speed at 1 doesn't
solve.

I will now re-read the thread and see what else I should be trying.

Tx for input, everyone.

Slainte
