Not true - Sage, Quickbooks, Turbocash (now GPL) et al are all alive and
kicking, with version numbers ticking away nicely, annual updates and
all that malarky (weather you want them or not).

I'm not sure where the States has come from in this discussion (apart
from the Dell hardware) - Turbocash is maintained in South Africa by
Pink Software (the original authors), with input from Dutch programmers.
There are specific UK, US and SA versions (and Austrailia too, possibly).
Support is £99 an year - not too bad.

Yes - it was made very clear that no development would be done by the
original programmer - and that the source was not going to be released,
either under GPL or to anyone else - outright sale never came up.

In extremis - yes, but for now I need one person to be able to make counter
sales (EPOS), one doing mail orders, and another doing stock control,
accounts stuff etc.
