Ahem - I *am* supporting British software - why do you think I have
struggled on with !Prophet for so long - indeed, why did I buy it in the
first place?
Sage is Sage, and I'm sure the accounts side is wonderful - but the stock
control is *crap* - only short descriptions allowed, no alternative
suppliers, no "spare" fields (to allow CSV export to web sites), supplier
stock numbers not diferentiated from customer stock numbers, etc etc
If you have a flexible inventory of up to 60,000 items it is useless.
Plus, if you have anything above a very basic system, it can get very
expensive.

If an accounts package on ROS appears, I will buy 2 A9's - really neat
machines, great for shows etc, but there is no point without the software.
For years we moaned about the lack of new hardware, and now it's here
the main *essential* application for business is missing - it's not even
that it doesn't exist - it just needs some work on it and it could be
a killer app. The author has (quite reasonably) "moved on" for pretty
much the same reasons I am (i.e. the need to run a profitable business).

I'm not sure what that means, but as I've said repeatedly - without a
developed accounts/stock control package then ROS is not viable for
anything but a very small business and that is out of my control as I
don't have time to run a business and develop a (large) program at the
same time. It's not as though I've just decided this, I've been pointing out
the deficiency for years.
There's £500.00 sitting here I'd nuch rather spend on a !Prophet upgrade
(or similar) rather than spend on Microsoft Office, and another
£1000.00 for 2 A9's, but I can't!
