It's possible: PrintPDF already types the file as PDF before the
conversion starts. I have to admit that, while I knew about the &DEADDEAD
load and exec addresses, until Druck's post the penny hadn't dropped that
this was legitimate to do from an application. Version 0.31 shows the
file as incomplete during the conversion, and can be found in the usual
place.
The downside is that the filetype now briefly changes from 'dead' to Data
and then on to PDF, as GhostScript gives it the Data type and PrintPDF
changes it.

That's also possible, though I can't think of any other RISC OS apps that
allow default filenames to be specified in their choices. I think my
preference might be to leave it as it is, or just to add a 'hidden' choice
in the Choices file so that your change doesn't get overwritten each time
you upgrade the main application.
It's on the to-do list, anyway.
