OK. But how does an application know where to save changes to its
choices? I reckon that my problems in the past have been with apps
which loaded Choices from Disabled, but saved them to Single!

I've checked, and there are no others.
I wonder if the Viewfinder stuff has been corrupted. Trouble is, I
don't know how to check. It's just that I can't select any Viewfinder
modes - either via the VF manager or by entering them into the Mode
dialogue box of Display on the icon bar.

That approach seems to confirm that I cannot find the source of this
display problem!
