Thanks for the warning!

Yes: this is not exactly new; and it does strongly suggest (as has been
the case for many years now) that they really don't understand what they
are doing.
I can mentally picture the situation, and how it derived -- but that is
no comfort to those millions of users who are stuck with the system,
most often through their place of employment so they have no choice. I
do feel some pity for them, but have no "quick fix" solution to their
underlying problem. Thankfully some of us have more freedom, and wider
knowledge/experience...
As some of our users know (and readers of Qercus certainly should know
by now!) I use my RISC OS computers extensively in my work as a local
councillor, and never pass up an opportunity to demonstrate the
capabilities this brings. Only yesterday (Saturday) my portable came to
the rescue at a public meeting at which the master plan of an area being
environmentally improved got left behind in a (locked over the weekend)
office, and became the centre of attention for most of the four hours
the event was running. I was there, and took photos as proof :-)
It will come as little if any surprise to some reading this that I
(rather predictably!) pointed out to our three officials running this
event that /my/ system wasn't the same as the one in their offices. It
is British and handles "like this" -- whereupon I wowed them with a
simple demonstration of something I have created in ArtWorks2. This
will be covered in a future issue of Qercus, so keep reading...
Meanwhile, with the help of the latest version of RiScript and the
Iyonix's USB capabilities, I am able to print both locally to high
quality (including colour) and -- via a pen drive supplied by CJE
Micro's -- to professional standards at top=notch print agencies.
