Re: Measuring Quality of Software products

Responding to Lekshmigee...

Hi..I am a Jr. Quality engineer with 2+ experience in ISO 17025 & 1
year in ISO 9001.
I am in search of good improvement techniques. The company has all
process in place. But no analysis is done on products after release to
identify the weak areas. So, I am more focussed into measurement and
analysis of software products. Can anyone guide me through this. The
best practices & methodology to be followed?

It has been many moons since I looked at ISO, but I thought ISO provided a process improvement infrastructure. If not, any of the process improvement frameworks (TQM, 6-Sigma, Baldridge, et al) will provide formal techniques for the analysis. My advice would be to get a book on one of these and follow the relevant process (e.g., a 7-Step for TQM).

If you are interested in the more technical side, a quick google for "Statistical Process Control" will provide handles to the basics. Beyond SPC, you would need predictive models. The Books category of my blog has a couple of books on SQA modeling,
