Hi all,

Recently my company posted a job opening. I would like you to estimate
how many hours a day that person shall work to perform all tasks
listed.
The company has 4-5 active projects with 2-3 major releases per year
plus couple of products for internal use. Builds for all products are
created on daily basis. FDA-regulated environment.

Requisition #0000 - Systems Configuration Engineer

Job Summary:
Responsible for computer systems / hardware configuration management.
Analyzes proposed product design changes and hardware/software upgrades
which affect the computer configuration; collaborates with purchasing
to help identify possible cost reductions for computer
systems/hardware; works with the appropriate R&D product development
organizations and Field Service in order to determine the impact of the
proposed changes. In collaboration with Marketing will assess and
determine the appropriate computer configuration(s) for products based
on analysis of performance requirements and data management needs. Act
as liaison and technical consultant to external 3rd party computer
integrator to coordinate the packaging and deployment of computer
components, operating systems and software configurations used in our
products. Maintain and manage parts obsolescence including the creation
and execution of product change orders. Coordinate the effort and
synchronize the execution of software test procedures on production
instruments in order to validate new computer configurations; performs
automated and manual, black and white box testing; sets up test data
and configures hardware for verification of software applications;
Analyzes, reports and maintains documentation of test results, defect
reports and requests for change as a result of computer system testing
and verification. Works on complex problems where analysis of data
requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment
within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods
and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives no
instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in determination of scope of work for complex tasks and helps
to establish project test schedules. Responsible for adhering to
project test schedules.
Responsible for analyzing system performance requirements for complex
software systems into computer system hardware configuration
recommendations including processor speed; memory and data storage
requirement; video and display; minimum and maximum space requirement.
Responsible for the coordination of and execution of test procedures,
automated test scripts and exploratory testing on production instrument
and corresponding software configurations in order to test new,
modified or upgraded computer systems, producing detailed and concise
test summary reports, regressing defect corrections when they arise,
and entering requests for change when necessary in order to improve the
quality of the product.
Initiates technical reviews with the appropriate R&D and Field Service
staff to determine the effect of computer component changes on shipping
product.
Works proactively with staff from Software Quality Engineering and
Systems Verification and Validation to determine the best strategy for
project test coverage.
Maintains matrix of testing requirements by hardware/computer component
change.
Communicates test status, progress, problems and changes to team lead
as well as functional management. Recommends options to resolve issues
resulting from testing.
Acts as liaison to external computer integrator to synchronize the
assembly of computer systems to correspond with company specifications
with regards to hardware components, operating system, device drivers,
as well as operating system and software patches.
Works with Product Marketing to properly scope computer systems.
Develops knowledge of company products through training and use.
Contributes to the advancement of process capability for software
quality engineering.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
