ISC, the developers of BIND, the software that runs most DNS services,
have announced the launch of the DLV registry. DLV stands for Domain
Lookaside Validation. The registry makes it possible to begin using
DNSSEC on a wide scale. DNSSEC is a secure extension to the DNS
protocol, based on cryptographic proof of identity, making spoofing
impossible.
A Russian developer saw a pirate selling illegal copies of his
software and challenged him in the boxing ring. The developer won.
Sounds like an effective way to deal with software pirates.
